Ms. De Shong is one of Pennsylvania’s leading family law attorneys. She has counseled hundreds of men and women on all aspects of divorce, child custody, distribution of assets, support, and alimony, as well as property settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, cohabitation and partnership agreements, family business agreements, protection from abuse matters, and more. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a national organization of approximately 1600 highly skilled litigators and negotiators who represent individuals in all areas of family law. (For more information about the academy, please visit www.aaml.org). A past Chair of the Montgomery Bar Association Family Law Section and its Continuing Legal Education and Law Reporter Committees, she lectures, writes and plans courses on family law matters for the Montgomery Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Institute for Certified Public Accountants. Ms. De Shong has also served on the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Bar Association. She is an active member of her local LIONS Club and the WHYY Mercury Society. A 1986 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Ms. De Shong received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College (B.A., 1983).
Ms. De Shong also provides practical guidance and support for clients who may not be certain that a divorce is appropriate for them, but wish to be fully informed of their legal rights and options without being pressured to move forward with a divorce or separation. While Ms. De Shong provides strong advocacy to her clients when required, she recognizes that the negotiation of a successful outcome is more often in her clients’ emotional and financial best interests than costly litigation.
