Silvia Diaz is an Associate in the firm’s Education Law and Employment and Labor practice groups. Ms. Diaz represents public school districts and charter schools in all areas of school law, including drafting and reviewing policies and regulations for compliance with federal and state laws, and providing counseling in day-to-day special education, labor, and employment matters. She also represents public and private employers in employment-related litigation matters in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies and tribunals. Before joining Wisler Pearlstine, Ms. Diaz was an Associate in the Business Litigation group of Goodwin Procter LLP, one of the country’s largest law firms, where she defended corporate clients in all aspects of complex commercial litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Diaz was an English and Social Studies teacher in a middle school in New York City’s Harlem through the Teach for America program. Ms. Diaz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, cum laude, where she was the Research Editor for the Journal of Law and Social Change. She received her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University (B.A. 2002), and also holds Masters Degrees in Secondary Teaching (Pace University M.A. 2005) and English Literature (Lehigh University M.A. 2004).

Representative Matters
  • Represented school districts in numerous successful defense of employment discrimination cases in Federal Court, as well as before administrative agencies and tribunals, including the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania through appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
  • Represented school districts and private clients in litigating the suspension, dismissal, and demotion of professional and non-professional employees, including litigation in connection with public sector employees in sophisticated civil rights cases and labor arbitrations.
  • Counseled school districts in interpreting and navigating issues related to the Charter School Law.
  • Reviewed and drafted employment contracts for public and private school administrators.
